Yummy yummy SUSHI

One thing I LOVE about being in Japan is the FOOD!!! :p hehehe and of course one of my fav is SUSHI – yum!

Without question, sushi here in Japan is so much better compared to the ones back home in Australia. Even the expensive top end sushi restaurants (Note: I’m only referring to the Gold Coast & Brisbane :p) can not compare to just an ordinary sushi bar here in Okinawa! I guess all the ingredients are so fresh that’s why the sushi here taste sooooooo good. Normally when I have sushi back home I tend to steer clear from all the raw fish ones however here in Okinawa, that’s all I eat! The fish just melts in your mouth…yum yum…my fav chutoro and otoro (fatty cut of tunas). I’m so hungry now just thinking about it! :p

Oh and another thing that I thought was so awesome when I first got here were the ready made sushi rolls that can be purchased at the convenience shop like Lawsons, Hot Spar, Family Mart which are equivalent to a Seven Eleven or Night Owl. Back in Aus whenever I buy a ready made sushi roll, the nori (seaweed) is always soggy and soft sigh…

In Japan, they’ve invented a clever way of packaging these sushi rolls so that the nori maintains its freshness. What a genius! Whoever invented it deserves an award for it!

For 180 yen, you can buy one of these and because of the way it is packaged, the nori stays fresh and crunchy!

Step by step of how to open one of these sushi rolls. Starting from top row left to right.

After having one of these packaged sushi rolls, I don’t know how I am ever going to pay AUD$2.00 for a sushi roll back home >.<>
